Karrot (Daangn)

KR is simply the country code for South Korea: Karrot KR is the Korean market, daangn.com, where the app is called 당근 and is published by Danggeun Market Inc. You do not even need the app to look around, because daangn.com shows second-hand listings on the web, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, with titles and prices.

Outside Korea the same company runs Karrot as separate markets. The country menu on daangn.com currently lists South Korea, Japan, the United States and Canada; Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam are not on it. So for most people outside those four countries, Karrot KR, the Korean market, is the one to look at.

The focus is on used goods from private individuals, and every profile carries a trust score, the “manner temperature” (매너온도), shaped by feedback from other users.

Each country runs as a separate market with its own listings, currency and sellers: in South Korea the site is daangn.com, in Korean with prices in won, while in the United States, among other countries, it is karrotmarket.com, in English. What turns up is mostly whatever neighbours are clearing out of their homes. Because deals are meant to be closed face to face, anyone further away should ask first whether the seller would be willing to post the item.
