Joongna (중고나라)
Peer-to-peer marketplace · web.joongna.com
Joongna (중고나라, also written Joonggonara) is a South Korean second-hand marketplace with its own app and a website at web.joongna.com, where listings are in Korean and prices in won. BuyHub opens it to searches in English from any browser: Korean titles come back translated, won prices are converted and new listings trigger an alert.
Joongna, Joonggonara and web.joongna.com
The names you will see, Joongna, Joonggonara or Jungonara, are all ways of writing 중고나라 in Latin letters. The community opened on Naver on 10 December 2003, and the Joongna app followed in April 2015; it can be used with a Naver ID, and items listed from the app use safe payment by default. Today the service is run by Joonggonara Co., based in Gangnam, Seoul.
With 안심결제, Joongna's safe payment, the money is held by Joongna until the buyer confirms the item has arrived, and only then paid to the seller.
Joongna and sites like Bunjang
Joongna is one of several places where Koreans resell their things: Bunjang, Daangn (Karrot) and the trading cafés of Naver Cafe carry similar goods, and the same item can turn up on more than one. BuyHub can search Joongna together with them and merge the results. On Joongna you can set a price range, sort by newest or by price and keep only recent listings, and a radar watches Joongna around the clock for new listings.
Joongna, from the Korean 중고나라 (roughly 'second-hand land'), is one of the biggest peer-to-peer marketplaces for used goods in South Korea. It started as a community, known as a café, on the Naver portal and now also has its own app and website, which remain linked to that original forum. Listings come from private individuals and carry a set price, with electronics and clothing sitting next to games and collectibles.
For collectors, it is a way into the Korean second-hand market, with games and collectibles offered directly by their owners. Listings are written in Korean and prices are in South Korean won. Sellers are private individuals in Korea who often hand items over in person or ship them within the country, so anyone abroad has to confirm with each seller whether international shipping is possible before committing.
