Vinted Alerts: The Bot That Tells You Instantly About Bargains and Rare Finds

On Vinted, bargains and rare collectibles sell within minutes and leave no trace. Here's how to hear about every new listing the moment it's posted.

· 11 min read

Short answer

Vinted lets you save searches, but it doesn't tell you the moment something new is listed, and sold items vanish without a trace: miss the first few minutes and you'll never know they existed. A BuyHub radar works like a Vinted bot with nothing to install: it re-runs your search every minute from our servers and alerts you as soon as something new appears, even when you have nothing open.

On Vinted, the good stuff lasts minutes

Anyone who buys on Vinted knows it: bargains don't wait. Someone clears out their loft, prices something they don't know the value of, and before you've finished your coffee it's gone. And it isn't only bargains. Rare collectibles, the kind that turn up once or twice a year, go just as fast, because people have been hunting for them for ages.

The catch is that Vinted doesn't show sold items. There's no sold list and no sold filter: as soon as someone buys a listing, it disappears from search. If you didn't see it in time, you'll never know it existed, what it went for or who was selling it. That's why checking Vinted now and then isn't enough. You need to be told the moment it's listed.

Bargains an alert puts in front of you

Three examples of things that are gone in minutes, each from a different category:

  • White and green New Balance 550 trainers, brand new, on top of their original box

Trainers in your size. A pair of New Balance 550s, brand new and boxed, for £30 because they didn't fit the seller. In the shops they're around £120. With an alert for the model, your size and a top price, you hear about them before they end up in someone else's wardrobe.

  • Nintendo 64 console with two controllers and a Mario Kart 64 cartridge on a sofa

Retro gaming. A Nintendo 64 with two controllers and Mario Kart 64 for £35, from someone who just wants the space back. That bundle easily sells for twice as much, and on Vinted it rarely lasts half an hour.

  • Retired LEGO Technic set with its box, instruction booklet and pieces in bags

Retired LEGO. A LEGO Technic set that's no longer made, complete with its instructions, for £20. Collectors watch for these with alerts of their own, so whoever hears first gets it.

These examples are illustrative: what each item is worth depends on its condition and the moment, but the pattern repeats every day.

And rare finds you only see if you're watching

  • Late-1970s sci-fi action figure, still sealed on its original card, the plastic bubble yellowed with age

Then there are the items that aren't cheap so much as almost impossible to find. Say, a late-1970s action figure still sealed on its original card, like the first Star Wars figures Kenner released in 1978. Very few surface each year, and when one appears on Vinted it tends to sell within minutes, sometimes for far less than it would fetch at a specialist auction.

Here the alert isn't about saving money, it's about knowing. Even if you don't end up buying it, knowing it was listed, for how much and by whom is worth a lot: that seller may have more pieces like it, and if you follow them on Vinted you'll hear about the next thing they post.

What if it's already reserved or sold when you get there?

You don't have to live glued to your phone. If the alert catches you at a bad moment and the item is already reserved or sold when you check a few minutes later, message the seller and offer a bit more. Plenty of sales never go through:

  • A reservation lasts five days and the seller can cancel it at any time (how reservations work). With a better offer on the table, they have a reason to.
  • An order can be cancelled as long as it hasn't been shipped, and the seller can then re-upload the item from the conversation (Vinted help). If you've already messaged them, you're the first person they'll think of.

Always keep it on Vinted: never pay outside the platform, or you lose its buyer protection. And remember the point: without the alert, you'd never have known that item was listed at all.

Vinted notifications: saved searches alert you, just not straight away

Vinted does let you save a search: you search, set your filters and tap the save button above the results. From then on it tells you about new items, but not instantly: it checks your saved searches at random, usually once a day and only with the app open, and complaints about notifications that arrive late, in batches or not at all are easy to find. For seasonal clothes that doesn't matter; for a bargain or a rare piece, an hour late is too late.

On top of that, it only tells you about what you've asked for: your saved searches, new items from members you follow and price drops on your favourites. And only on your own country's site, which shows sellers from some nearby countries and not others.

Vinted bot: the alternative with nothing to install

That's why so many people search for a «Vinted bot». What they usually find are Telegram and Discord bots and scripts you have to install: they do something similar, but you have to set them up yourself, keep a computer running, or join a channel where the same alert reaches hundreds of people at once, and whoever taps first wins.

  • Nothing to install. You create the radar on the BuyHub website or app and it runs from our servers, with your phone and computer switched off.
  • An alert that's yours alone. Your search, your filters and your price: you're not up against a whole channel for the same listing.
  • Your Vinted account stays out of it. It never asks for your password or buys for you: it alerts you, and you buy on Vinted yourself, with its buyer protection.
  • Filters Vinted doesn't have, on any of the 25 Vinted sites, as you'll see below.

Filters Vinted doesn't have

Vinted's filters stop at the basics: category, brand, size, condition and price. BuyHub shows you the same listings and adds four filters that make all the difference when you're hunting:

  • Search several terms at once. A single alert watches «zelda ocarina of time», «zelda majora's mask» and «zelda n64» at the same time, each one separately, instead of one saved search per term.
  • Require keywords. Searching for «zelda» but only after the UK release? Ask for titles that include «PAL» or «UK» and nothing else reaches you.
  • Exclude words from your search. «replica», «empty box», «for parts», «not working»: whatever you want gone stays gone, in searches and in alerts.
  • Filter sellers by country. By default, a search on vinted.fr includes sellers from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands and Austria. BuyHub shows you the listings exactly as Vinted does, from all those countries, and also lets you filter by the ones you pick: say, only sellers from France and Belgium, in searches and in alerts.

The country filter matters more than it seems. Some things were only ever made for one market: a local artist's work, the French edition of a comic, a film on DVD dubbed in one language, or books in Catalan or Dutch. If that's what you're after, hundreds of listings from other countries are just noise.

Search Vinted in other countries too

Every country has its own Vinted, and they don't all talk to each other. The UK site is completely separate: vinted.co.uk only shows British sellers (plus a few from the US and Australia), so from the UK you never see what sellers in France or Germany list. With BuyHub you can search and set alerts on any of the 25 Vinted sites, with titles translated and prices in your currency.

What you find there you won't always be able to buy with your own address, because many marketplaces don't ship abroad. At BuyHub we give you tools to buy it anyway: through assisted purchasing from other providers, who buy it for you, or through addresses you manage yourself in that country, which you buy to and which then forward it to your home. It costs more, because you pay a fee and a second delivery, but it multiplies your chances of landing very rare pieces or things that were only ever sold in another country.

How to set up a Vinted alert in BuyHub

  1. Go to Radar and tap Create radar.
  2. Pick the Vinted site you want to watch (vinted.co.uk, vinted.fr, vinted.de…). Each radar watches one site; for several, create one for each.
  3. Type what you're after the way a seller would write it: model, brand, reference number. You can add several words or phrases, and each one is searched separately.
  4. Set a top price and Vinted's filters (category, condition, size…). Under Advanced, add the words the title must include (say, «PAL») and the ones that rule it out, such as «replica» or «empty box». That's also where you filter sellers by country.
  5. Choose how often to search and tap Test radar to see what it would find right now. Once it's created, it alerts you to whatever is listed from that moment on.

If it's your first radar, there's a step-by-step walkthrough in Creating a radar and everything about timing in How often it searches and how it alerts you.

Tips for hunting on Vinted

  • One alert per thing. Plain «pokemon» floods your inbox and you stop opening the emails; «pokemon charizard first edition card» tells you what matters.
  • Think like someone who doesn't know what they're selling. The best bargains come from people who don't know the item. Add an alert with the vague description too («old star wars figure», «old nintendo console»).
  • Set a top price, but don't cut it too fine. Prices on Vinted are negotiable: a listing slightly above your limit may still end up within it.
  • Look beyond your own country. From the UK, vinted.co.uk never shows you sellers in France, Germany or Italy. Set an alert on vinted.fr or vinted.de too: when you search in BuyHub, those listings come up translated, with prices in your currency.

Frequently asked questions

Does Vinted notify you when a new item is listed?

Yes, if you save the search or follow the seller, but not straight away: Vinted checks saved searches at random, usually once a day, and notifications can arrive very late. To hear about an item the minute it's listed, you need a separate alert, such as a BuyHub radar.

Can you see sold items on Vinted?

No. Vinted has no sold list and no sold filter: once someone buys an item, it disappears from search. That's why the only way not to miss a bargain or a rare piece is to be alerted as soon as it's listed.

How often does a BuyHub radar search Vinted?

You choose. At most every minute on the Pro and Max plans, and every 5 minutes on Starter. Between midnight and 7 am Central European Time, when hardly anything is listed, Vinted is checked four times less often.

How will I be alerted?

However you like: web notifications, notifications in the BuyHub app for iPhone and Android, or email. New listings are also waiting for you, highlighted, on the radar screen.

What if I'm too late and it's already reserved or sold?

Message the seller and offer a bit more. A reservation lasts five days and the seller can cancel it, and an order can be cancelled as long as it hasn't been shipped. Always keep it on Vinted and never pay outside the platform.

Can I set up alerts for Vinted in other countries?

Yes. The Vinted app only searches your own country's site, but with BuyHub you can create a radar for any of the 25 Vinted sites: France, Germany, Italy, Poland, the UK and the rest. Bear in mind that not all of them sell to your country.

Can I search only sellers from one country on Vinted?

Not on Vinted itself: a search on one Vinted site includes sellers from several countries by default. BuyHub shows you those same listings and also lets you filter by the countries you pick, in searches and in alerts: very handy for editions that were only sold in one market.

Can I buy from Vinted in France or Germany from the UK?

Not directly: vinted.co.uk is separate from the European sites. With BuyHub you can search and set alerts on them, and buy anyway through assisted purchasing from other providers or an address of your own in that country that forwards it to you. It costs more because of the fee and the second delivery, but it gives you access to pieces that never turn up at home.

Is it the same as a Vinted bot?

It does the same job as a Telegram or Discord bot, without installing or configuring anything, from our servers, and the alert is yours alone: your search, your filters and your price.

Can using a Vinted bot get my account banned?

A BuyHub radar doesn't use your Vinted account: it never asks for your password, never logs in and never buys for you. It only tells you what's been listed; you buy on Vinted yourself, as usual.

How much does it cost?

Saving searches on Vinted is free. On BuyHub, the Vinted radar is part of the paid plans, starting with Starter; the free plan covers eBay and Catawiki. It's all on the plans page.
