OLX Brasil
Peer-to-peer marketplace · olx.com.br
OLX Brasil (olx.com.br) is the Brazilian classifieds site where people sell cars, homes, furniture, phones and all sorts of second-hand goods, in Portuguese and in reais. BuyHub searches it in English with the free browser extension or app: titles come back translated, prices are converted to your currency and a radar alerts you to new ads.
OLX Brasil's official website, app and owners
The official site is olx.com.br, and the official apps are OLX: Compras Online e Vendas on Android and OLX - Comprar e vender online on iPhone, both in Portuguese. OLX has been operating in Brazil for about fifteen years. In November 2014 Naspers and Schibsted, which ran the rival site Bom Negócio, joined forces to co-own OLX Brazil, and the company behind the site and the apps is called Bom Negócio Atividades de Internet Ltda.
Today Grupo OLX belongs half to Prosus and half to Adevinta, and it also runs the property portals ZAP Imóveis and Viva Real.
Buying on OLX Brasil: CPF, login and Garantia da OLX
Opening an account means choosing a personal or business profile and entering a CPF or CNPJ, the Brazilian tax numbers, which cannot be changed afterwards. You then log in with your email, CPF or CNPJ plus a password or an emailed code, or with Google or Facebook.
Listings with the Garantia da OLX seal can be bought online: you press Comprar, pay by credit card, PIX or Nupay, and OLX holds the money until delivery is confirmed, with mediation if something goes wrong. The item arrives with a partner carrier at your address, is collected from a Clique Retire locker within 72 hours, or is handed over by the seller. Delivery options depend on a Brazilian CEP, and the buyer pays a fixed fee plus a percentage, shown before the purchase is completed.
