Mercari US
Peer-to-peer marketplace · mercari.com
Mercari (mercari.com) is the US resale marketplace where people sell used and new items with in-app payment and prepaid shipping labels, in the Mercari app or in a web browser. BuyHub can search it from any browser alongside Mercari Japan and other US sites, translating the titles if you search in another language and alerting you to new listings.
Mercari app or browser: who can use it and what it costs
You do not need the app: Mercari's terms define the service as both the website and the mobile application, so buying works on mercari.com too. What you do need is a US home: the terms say that to have a Mercari account you must reside in the United States, which rules out opening one from the UK, the UAE or Australia.
Listing is free. For listings created or updated since 6 January 2025, sellers pay a 10% selling fee on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, and there is no separate payment-processing fee.
Mercari US and Mercari Japan: two separate marketplaces
Mercari started in Japan, but Mercari Japan runs separately from Mercari US, with its own listings and terms. Since 17 June 2026, US buyers can also use the Mercari Global App to buy straight from Mercari and Mercari Shops listings in Japan, without a proxy service.
On BuyHub the two are separate sites that you can search together. For Mercari US you can set a price range, a condition and free shipping, and sort by newest or by price; a radar keeps an eye on new Mercari listings for you at all hours.
Born in Japan in 2013, Mercari has operated a US version since 2014 and ranks among the most widely used peer-to-peer resale apps in the country. Everything runs through the platform: buyers pay in the app, sellers ship with a prepaid label that Mercari generates, and every listing states the item's condition on a shared scale. Profiles build up ratings over time, and there is a set procedure for returns.
Collectors will find Funko Pops, trading cards, comics, action figures, designer toys and retro consoles and games, sometimes still sealed in their original packaging, including editions released only in the US. Prices are in dollars. Mercari does not ship outside the United States, so buyers elsewhere usually go through a parcel-forwarding service with a US address.
