Facebook Marketplace Norway

Norway is long and thinly populated, so where you search from changes everything. BuyHub offers five Norwegian locations: Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger and Kristiansand. Choose the closest one and sort by distance, or by newest to see what has just been listed. If few items near your city match, Facebook may also show listings from further away; for the north of the country, Trondheim is the nearest of the five.

You can filter by price, condition, category and date listed. Prices are in Norwegian kroner (NOK) and shown in your currency as well, and titles in Norwegian come back translated into English.

Facebook is reached through your own connection: use the free BuyHub extension for Chrome or Firefox, or the BuyHub app. Saved as a radar, a search for a used bike in Bergen keeps running even when your devices are off.

FINN.no, the Norwegian classifieds site that belongs to the Vend group (formerly Schibsted Marketplaces), has a section called Torget for second-hand goods. FINN also offers Fiks ferdig, a service that handles shipping and payment. Facebook Marketplace has nothing like it in Norway: its shipping and purchase protection exist only in the United States, so here you agree with the seller and pay on pickup, in cash or with a mobile payment app such as Vipps.

Some sellers post on both, sometimes at different prices. In BuyHub you can add FINN.no to the same search as Marketplace and compare the two in one list. Before paying on Marketplace, check the seller's profile: there is no purchase protection to fall back on.
