Jiji Nigeria
Jiji · jiji.ngBeta
Jiji Nigeria (jiji.ng) is a classifieds marketplace where people and businesses across Nigeria advertise phones, cars, electronics, fashion, property and jobs, priced in naira. It is not an online store: you deal with each seller. BuyHub searches Jiji with its free browser extension or app, converts prices to your currency and alerts you to new ads.
In beta: it works, but we are still polishing it.
Is Jiji an online store?
People often look for Jiji online shopping or a Jiji store in Nigeria, but Jiji does not sell anything itself. It is a classifieds site: private sellers and businesses post ads, and you contact them to agree on price, payment and delivery or pickup. Basic listings are free, and Jiji earns its money from premium placement and paid services for sellers.
Jiji's own advice in its app is to agree delivery with the seller in Jiji Chat and pay on delivery, only after inspecting the product. Sellers who want more visibility can buy Jiji's premium services to promote their ads.
Jiji in Nigeria: from Lagos to the rest of Africa
Jiji was founded in Lagos in 2014, within the Ukrainian technology group Genesis. In April 2019 OLX announced that its users in Nigeria would be redirected to Jiji, and that Jiji would take over OLX's businesses in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Today Jiji runs sites in nine African countries, including Ethiopia, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and the Republic of the Congo, plus Bangladesh, and has apps for Android and iPhone.
